CASE STUDY
DHL Pharma
Integration of a thermal monitoring system
in the warehouse, in HVAC control
Overview
As a world leader in the Supply Chain, and with a strong focus on the Pharmaceutical sector, DHL Portugal has warehouses and cold rooms specially designed for Pharmaceutical customers.
These facilities must meet industry requirements, ensuring that, among many other issues, the temperature of storage areas is monitored. The building was already equipped with a system of temperature sensors, but it was connected by cable.

Different Temperature Ranges
Less
Product Waste & Thermal Loss
The Solution
Through the MYSIRIUS system, from our partner JRI, which we have been installing in Portugal for over 15 years, we assured DHL that all the demanding requirements of the Pharmaceutical sector were met, together with a “wireless” system, simple, with “Long Range” communication that covered the entire warehouse.
The existence of a MYSIRIUS Connectivity Module allowed, together with a partner specialist in controllers and air conditioning systems, to carry out an integration with the entire control system already existing in the installations.
Thus, the system would work in support of air conditioning, without ever losing its independence, being therefore a flexible part and adjusted at any time without the need for cabling or work.

“A fully monitored system allows for an optimized data analysis, leading to far less wasteful results.”

The Results
DHL has acquired a specific and state-of-the-art Monitoring system that meets the demanding Pharmaceutical requirements, consisting of wireless sensors, which can be spread throughout the warehouse and in different locations, heights and spaces for different customers, all of which are used to the adjustment of the air conditioning system, whose operation depends on the different areas.
It thus ensured great homogeneity in the sampling of sensors within the storage areas, increasing the accuracy of the insufflated temperature, which leads to savings and efficiency in thermal balance.

The Challenge
To install a temperature monitoring system in compliance with the Pharmaceutical sector (12830, gamp5, FDA, GDP, GMP…), wireless, flexible, which could be the reference in the warehouse’s temperature control.
